Conny van Bergen

Conny van Bergen was a singer who made a few singles in the sixties. She wasn't a big star but quite popular. In 1965 she represented the Netherlands at the Belgian Knokke Festival. She covered the song Fernando En Philippo which was song by Milly Scot at the Eurovision Songcontest in 1966, she came 15th.

Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson

Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson (born March 16 1970), known internationally as Páll Óskar and Paul Oscar, is an Icelandic pop singer, songwriter and DJ. He had a musical childhood, singing at private functions, with choirs and for media advertisements, but was affected by bullying in school and tension between his parents at home. He came out as gay to his family at the age of 16 years.

Paul Oscar's musical range spans traditional Icelandic songs, ballads, love songs, disco, house and techno. He released his first album, Stuð (Groove), in 1993 while in New York City, and also sang with Icelandic groups Milljónamæringarnir (The Millionaires) and Casino while establishing a career as a solo artist. His album of ballads, Palli, was the best-selling Icelandic album of 1995. Paul Oscar came to international attention when he performed Minn Hinsti Dans (My Final Dance), Iceland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 which came 20th. His most recent album is Silfursafnið (The Silver Collection, 2008). In Reykjavík, Paul Oscar performs regularly as a disc jockey in clubs and appears on radio and TV shows.

Germany 1956

Freddy Quinn (born as Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl, September 27 1931, Niederfladnitz, Austria) is an Austrian singer and actor whose popularity within the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s. Similar to Hans Albers two generations before him, Quinn adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. Quinn's Irish-sounding name comes from his Irish born salesman father, Johann Quinn. His mother, Edith Henriette Nidl, was an Austrian journalist. He is often associated with the Schlager scene.

Freddy Quinn was born in Lower Austria and grew up in Vienna. As a child he lived in Morgantown, West Virginia (USA) with his father but moved back to live with his mother in Europe. Through his mother's second marriage to Rudolf Anatol Freiherr von Petz, Quinn adopted the name Nidl-Petz. However, having left the landlocked country of Austria for Germany, he was discovered in St. Pauli, Hamburg, and was offered his first recording contract in 1954. He represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland with the atypical song, So geht das jede Nacht. His other songs are mostly about the endless sea and the solitary life in faraway lands. His first hit record was Heimweh, Dort wo die Blumen blüh'n and Schön war die Zeit, a German version of Dean Martin's Memories Are Made of This. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

Other hits, often with him simply billed as Freddy, followed: Die Gitarre und das Meer, Unter fremden Sternen, Irgendwann gibt's ein Wiedersehn, La Paloma, Junge, komm bald wieder and Vergangen, vergessen, voruber was another million selling release.

His popularity petered out in the 1970s, but Quinn continued performing. Junge, komm bald wieder was sung by Alpay on 7 Dilde Alpay album, which was released in 1973.

Starting in the late 1950s, Quinn also acted in several movies, again frequently cast as the seafaring loner.

Quinn was also an accomplished circus performer who stunned television audiences as a tightrope walker performing live and without a safety net. On another occasion, which was also televised, he rode a lion inside a circus cage while the lion was balancing atop a moving surface.

Quinn still lives in Hamburg.

 Walter Andreas Schwarz (June 2 1913 - April 1 1992) was a German singer, songwriter, novelist, Kabarettist, author of radio dramas and translator.

Walter Andreas Schwarz was born in Aschersleben. In 1956, he competed with his own composition Im Wartesaal zum großen Glück in the German national final for the Eurovision Song Contest and won. Along with Freddy Quinn, he therefore became the first German entrant in the competition. His placing is not known, but it is rumoured that he finished second. The song was released as a single but commercially, it was not very successful. Other notable records were not released. He went on to become a successful author of novels and especially radio dramas. One of his last contributions was an adaption of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in 1990 and 1991, which included 17 episodes. In 1985, he appeared - along with many other former German representatives - in the interval act of the German national final, which was a medley of all German entries until that year. For many years, he has lived in London before he moved back to Germany. He died in April 1992 in Heidelberg.

Las Supremas De Móstoles

Las Supremas De Móstoles are three sisters, Susi, Vicky and Luisi who participated in 2005 in the Spanish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. They came 2nd with the song Eres Un Enfermo, a song about a woman who has grown tired of her husband's addiction to cybersex.

Although Eres Un Enfermo was the first single they released, they previously worked as chorus girls for many singers like Paloma San Basilio, Sergio Dalma and José Velez.

Brian Harvey

Brian Harvey (born as Brian Lee Harvey, on August 8 1974) is an English musician and formerly lead singer of pop/boy band East 17.

After being very succesful in his younger years with East 17 Brian Harvey wanted to make a comeback so he participated in the UK pre-selection 2007 where he didn't reach the top 2.

Annie Palmen

Anna Maria (Anny) Palmen was a Dutch singer who was born on August 19 1926 and died on January 15 2000.

At the age of 15 Annie was a member of a Hawaiian orchestra and after that she sang with a cowboy band. Annie took part in many singing and beauty contests. She performed many times at radio shows in her early 20's. In 1958 she had her first hit with the song Ik Zal Je Nooit Meer Vergeten.

In 1960 Annie participated in the Dutch national final. All the songs were sung twice. Annie sang the winning song but an "expert" jury chose Rudi Carell instead. In 1963 Annie was asked to represent the Netherlands. Because of a strike the National final was cancelled and Annie had to sing her three songs before an "expert" jury who chose the song Een Speeldoos. It was rumoured Annie didn't like the song. In London Annie finished last. Annie blamed the orchestra because they didn't play the very delicate song properly. The Dutch audience blamed Annie for the low ranking so the whole ESC experience wasn't a pleasant one for her.

From 1967 until 1972 Annie played the part of Drika, a singing country girl, in a television show called Mik. After that Annie dropped out of sight.

In 2000 Annie Palmen died at the age of 73 after a long illness of an undisclosed nature.

Gece Yolcular

Gece Yolcular is a Turkish softrockband.

They established as a university band in 1993. They worked as amateurs till 1995, when they started their professional career. At first the main aim of the band was to compose and share their authentic music and to obtain a distinctive style.

In 2004 they recorded their first album Gece Yolculari and made a great success with their first single Unut Beni. In 2005 that song was a theme song in Hayat Bilgisi, one of the most popular TV series in Turkey and after it had appeared on TV, it aroused a great interest all over the country. With the success of their television appearance, the band embarked a tour thanks to which they managed to play in front of thousands of fans, especially performing at universities and cities in Turkey.

The band took part in many projects in the frame of their social responsibilities and appeared in one of these projects having been held for the survivors in Tsunami disaster in South Asia Hand in Hand for South Asia in 2005.

They made music videos for the songs of their first album Yaban Gülü and Ölüm de Var and they were on the charts for a long time. The video Yaban Gülü was broadcasted on MTV Europe and aroused interest. In late 2005, they accorded TMC and in 2006 they released Gece Yolculari 2 with Cem Özkan who was at the same time the producer of the first album.

The first single of the second album was Neredesin. Gece Yolculari proved how the style of the band was stable and open to improve and with the success of this album Gece Yolculari was up on the lists and the agenda again. The second video of the album Seninle Bir Dakika (ESC 1975) won everybody’s approval with its sound and the harmonization. The third video Hüzün was up on the lists for months as an indicator of the band’s being permanent. People found the last video of this album Gökler Agliyor successful as a love ballad. During Gece Yolculari 2, the band went on a tour and met their fans and saw their success.
