J. Anvil

Ian James Vella, better known as J. Anvil, born August 4, 1975 In Attard, is a Maltese singer and dancer.

Ian started his career at young age as a dancer. By the age of 11 he was dancing modern jazz, latin and ballroom. Together with his partner in dancing and in life, Nadine, he participated in many dancing competitions and festivals. Ian is a fan of musicals and played also violin for a couple of years. In 2004 he participated at Malta's Song For Europe, which is the Maltese national final for the ESC, as a dancer and choreographer. It inspired him to become a singer as well and he wanted to represent Malta at the ESC. He participated 5 times at Malta's Song For Europe:

  • 2005: You, 3rd
  • 2006: You Too, 4th
  • 2009: Choose Your Number, 10th
  • 2010: Mirage, which didn't qualify for the final
  • 2011: Topsy Turvy, 10th
  • 2012: You Are My Life, 14th
