Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest - 1968

Melodifestivalen 1968 was the selection for the 10th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. 2233 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was broadcast on Sveriges Radio TV. The Swedish Final was held on March 9th in Stockholm, hosted by Magnus Banck. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 11 regional juries.

At the Eurovision Song Contest in London, Claes-Göran Hederström sang the song Det börjar verka kärlek, banne mig, made by Peter Himmelstrand. It finished 5th (out of 17) with 15 points, including 6 from Norway, the highest number of votes awarded that year.

Claes-Göran Hederström (born on 20 October 1945 in Danderyd, north of Stockholm) is a Swedish singer. He made his musical debut on Swedish television in 1967. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1968, Claes-Göran Hederström represented Sweden with the song Det börjar verka kärlek, banne mig, made by Peter Himmelstrand. It finished 5th (out of 17) with 15 points, including 6 from Norway, the highest number of votes awarded that year. The song subsequently topped Swedish top 20 charts and today it is still his most recognised song.
