Marty was a member of Blue Danube who came 8th in the Eurovision Songcontest 1980 with the song Du Bist Musik.
In 1981 Austria organised his first national final, Marty Brem sang 3 songs. Wenn Du Da bist won with 51 % of the voting, 2nd came Clown with 35 % of the voting and 3rd came Und Ich Singe with 14% of the votes. In Dublin Marty came 17th. His performance was quite different because of the unusual choreography by female dancers in equally unusual costumes.

Marty also became a music journalist, and joined Philip Morris as a marketing consultant in 1988, only to return to the music industry in 1992 as marketing director for Phonogram/Universal. In 1995 Marty became Vice President International Marketing for Sony Music Entertainment Europe in London, and in 1997 he took helm at Columbia Records in Berlin. He now also heads the Berlin office of the German portal utopia.de.
