Germany 1989

The German national final to select their entry, Vorentscheid 1989, was held on March 23 at the Deutsches Theater in Munich, and was hosted by actor and comedian Hape Kerkeling. The winning song was chosen by televoting.

The winning entry was Flieger, performed by Nino de Angelo and composed by Dieter Bohlen with lyrics by Joachim Horn-Bernges.

During the televoting the German broadcaster showed the wrong telephone number for song number ten so it isn't strange that song number ten came last…..

Nino De Angelo, born as Domenico Gerhard Gorgoglione, December 18 1963, is a German singer of Italian descent. His biggest hit in Germany was Jenseits Von Eden.

After that big success Nino released several singles which couldn't reach the success of Jenseits Von Eden. In 1989 he was asked by Dieter Bohlen to sing his song Flieger in the German national final which won but came only 14th at the ESC in Lausanne.

In 2002 Nino tried to make a comeback and participated again in the German pre-selection, this time he sang Und Wenn Du Lachst which came 9th.
