After writing the song Säg Det Med En Sång for the Swedish Melodifestivalen in 1972, manager Stig Anderson decided to have another try at the Swedish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, this time with the song Ring Ring.
He wanted Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida to sing the song. They did, but came only 3rd. Ring Ring was a hit in many parts of Europe and also in South-Africa. It wasn't the first song of ABBA, in 1972 they recorded the song People Need Love as Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida, but in 1973 when they released the song Ring Ring they decided to call themselves ABBA.
