María Dolores Amaya Vega, better known as Remedios Amaya, is a popular Spanish flamenco singer born in the Triana district of Seville in 1962. In 1978 Remedios released her first album under the title Remedios Amaya.
In 1983 Remedios was chosen to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ¿Quién maneja mi barca? (Who is sailing my boat?) which finished last with no points at all. Years later Remedios said in an interview she was still very proud of her representation.
Since the Eurovision Song Contest Remedios has devoted to Flamenco and Rumba. She released several successful albums and is still very respected.
